Hidden deep within Texas Hill Country, just a stone's throw outside Fredericksburg, is the Cool Water Ranch community—a 400-plus-acre plot of gently rolling hills and pastoral meadows that provide a playground for wildlife.

You sort of just happen upon this house, which fits comfortably into the Southwest landscape with its palette of greens, taupes, native stones and groves of elms and Spanish oaks. This nearly 7,600-square-foot ranch compound was built to be functional and self sustaining.
