Homemade Composter

Herman Peter of Madisonville, La., made his own compost tumbler from a discarded
fertilizer drum, four rubber casters mounted on a piece of plywood and some
angle iron. He cut a door in the side of the drum and remounted it with small
hinges and two barrel bolts to secure it when closed. The angle iron brackets
mounted on either side keep the drum from sliding off its perch. He fills the
composter with kitchen and other organic scraps, turns it occasionally to keep
the material aerated, and presto! Compost for flowerpots and the garden.
