"I lived at this house for the first five years of my life; in the county of Caswell, N.C., surrounded by the flourishing tobacco belt of the South. It was a wonderful place to live then, and has not changed much in the 55 years since.
I was pulled from this red dirt farm, with the same resistance as pulling out an 'eye tooth'. My life was never the same, and I knew that someday I would be able to go back home again. I have spent my entire life dreaming that dream. I will be 61 next month, and I know now that I will never be able to really go back home. So, as you view this photo of what I call "The Road Home," try to see what I see. not the rutty, red dirt road, leading to an old abandoned farmhouse, instead...to me, it is exquisitely 'the best place to have lived."
