It depends on the dog. Some dogs do better on different formulations. We can't really say that anything is the "best."
Pet food companies try to sell us on their main ingredientsespecially on how much protein a dog food has. What's really important is to choose a food that is complete and balanced for your dog's stage of life.
Look for a statement on the bag that refers to their use of the Association of American Feed Control Officials' formulas, guidelines or procedures. The AAFCO is an independent organization that certifies the food you are buying has met minimum nutrition requirements.
I personally feed and sell Hill's Science Diet and Prescription Diet foods. There are many other good companies out there.
Bottom line: Select a food appropriate for your dog's life stage (e.g. puppies, adults, seniors, etc.) based on those AAFCO feeding trials.
